Why are you giving back money to customers?
Many of our car insurance customers drove less between 1st October 2020 and 31st March 2021, so we think it's only right to offer those customers some money back.
How much less do I need to have driven to be able to claim ‘give back’?
You just need to have driven less than you would normally between 1st October 2020 and 31st March 2021.
Why is the period between 1st October 2020 and 31st March 2021?
During this period parts of the country started entering into tiers followed by local and national lockdowns. Whilst not everyone will be back to normal after 31st March we will review again later this year
How did you calculate the ‘give back’ amount?
There are two flat amounts, based on a customer’s annual premium.
Why are you giving customers the choice to either receive the money or donate it to charity?
We know from previous experience that some people prefer to donate the money. We’re allowing customers to take the money (as cash or in the form of an Amazon.co.uk Gift Card*, give it all away to charity, or do a bit of both.
*Restrictions apply, see www.amazon.co.uk/gc-legal.
I’ve got more than one car insurance policy - can I get money back on each one?
Yes. If this applies, to you, you’ll be contacted for each separate policy.
How long will it take to get the money?
It depends on how you want to receive the money. Direct Debit will take up to 5 working days, cheques can take up to 30 working days from the date you make the claim. Amazon vouchers can take up to 14 days, via email. (Please check your junk folder if you haven't received your voucher).
I’ve claimed on my insurance – can I still claim money back?
Yes. As long as you have a valid Privilege car insurance policy still in place and bought the policy before the end of June 2020.
Is there a deadline?
You’ll need to make your claim by 13th September 2021. We won’t be able to accept any claims after that date.
Can I change my mind?
Once your selection has been made, it can’t be changed. Please make sure you read all the information available to you before making your selection and make sure it’s right for you.
